Head to the farm. Hogtoberfest is heating up the Atlanta History Center this Friday (Oct. 5). Jerry Slater (The Expat) heads up a team of experts including his dad, who will help smoke a whole Riverview Farms hog. Bryan Furman (B’s Cracklin’ BBQ) is doing brisket and sides. Todd Richards is smoking chickens. Desserts come by way of Angie Mosier (Placemat Productions), Erika Council (Southern Souffle), and Jessica Rothraker (Heirloom Café). Creature Comforts is bringing the beer and Krista Slater will be stirring up cocktails. Proceeds benefit the 30,000 school kids the History Center educates each year.
Speaking of B’s Cracklin’ BBQ, Erika Council’s pop-up breakfast with stuffed biscuits and biscuit sweets is back this Sat., Oct. 6 beginning at 8 a.m. at 2061 Main St.
This is going to be fantastic! Hotel Clermont is kicking off a Rooftop Dinner series this month. Tiny Lou’s executive chef Jeb Aldrich hosts a rotating lineup of chefs for five courses, wine pairings, and cocktails sky high above the city. It kicks off on Mon., Oct. 15 with Asheville’s Graham House (Sovereign Remedies), formerly of 4th and Swift. Whether you complete the night with the Clermont Lounge is up to you.
Good stuff out of SweetWater Brewing Company. In continued support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, they have turned two of their most iconic cans pink. Find Blue blueberry wheat ale in pink cans wherever you typically buy SweetWater, with proceeds benefiting Casting for Recovery, a fly-fishing retreat for women withbreast cancer. Exclusively on Delta Airlines flights, 420 extra pale ale cans will be pink this month, with proceeds donated to Delta’s donation to Breast Cancerresearch Fund.
You can get a $1 cocktail through the end of October at area Applebee’s. Their Dollar Zombie comes in a 10 oz. mug in four flavors, including pineapple, passion fruit, cherry, and lime. AND it comes appropriately topped with a gummy brain.

Warm up at Decatur’s Revival (by writing this, perhaps fall will actually arrive in the ATL) on Sun., Oct. 21 with High Wire Distilling Co. Chef de Cuisine Nicole Edwards is whipping up four courses to go along with 4 High Wire cocktails for a Sip and Savor dinner. The James Beard Award nominated (2017 and 2018) distillery will give the lowdown on their Charleston based small batch spirits. Tickets are available at redbeardmerch.com.
WhatNowAtl reports that Charlotte chef Jarrett Gray and his sister Joy Gray Prince are opening a restaurant in the former Harp Transmission building (350 Memorial Drive) in Grant Park. Serving up “American Cuisine” with lots of small plates, the space will also have 40 self-serve taps of beer, wine, and champagne available in 1 oz. Pours.
Local Vine is now open at 3101 Cobb Pkwy. The alcohol retailer boasts more than7000 handpicked wines, 5000 spirits, and 2000 beers in the 19,000 sq. ft. space.
